Pleasure Called—And I Answered: Part 2 Motherhood: A Portal from Trauma to Pleasure

So there I was—at what I thought was just another content gig.I had no idea this event would unlock a revelation that’s been sitting in my body for years.

In Part 1, I shared how the Darkness RISING Mixer and Block Party invited me to show up as a content creator & mama. What I didn’t expect was the way that pleasure (joy, culture, movement, and memory) would tap me on the shoulder and say: “Sis, we’re going deeper.”

When I saw my sons laughing, playing, and being held in a container that was built for healing, everything shifted. This next part of the story is personal.

Let’s keep going.

As I watched my boys eagerly and joyfully playing a game of tug of war something came over me that I couldn't name until right now:

These children that arrived through pain and lack were now placed—intentionally—in the container of joy, culture, community and restoration that was the Darkness RISING Block Party.

Together we experienced a moment:

🌀 Where play was sacred

🌀 Where joy was healing

🌀 Where strength could be tested in love, not survival

In this space, they were energetically held by other children who may be walking the same path without even knowing it and they didn’t have to earn the right to feel and express themselves.

They screamed, they laughed, they fell down and got back up.

And because the space was curated with validation, awareness, accountability and pleasure in mind—Every single one of those moments transformed their origin story into purpose & pleasure.

now that’s my type of magic.

That’s Darkness literally RISING.

Holding that moment with clarity and reverence is evidence of the work I’ve done to begin to rewrite our story. I haven’t just been parenting them…I’ve been re-parenting myself.

✔️ Mentally — therapy

✔️ Emotionally — shadow work

✔️ Spiritually — dance, nature, meditation

✔️ Intellectually — research, unlearning, relearning

✔️ Ego — accountability, reflection

✔️ Energetically — nervous system regulation & heart-based integration

✔️ Integration — practicing what I’ve learned

We left feeling uplifted, empowered, and just a little lighter on our feet 🩰 (A nod to the dancer in me lol). Subconsciously we felt the chains of trauma being broken and the peace in knowing that our community supports our healing.

They say mothers should be modest, but modesty didn’t get me here. Having the courage to advocate for my own pleasure did, though.

As for me, motherhood has become a portal from trauma to pleasure.

And that’s revolutionary.

I’ll leave you on this note: This block party emphasizes the notion that pleasure is part of the revolution and for me it was a reminder of a message that I believe so passionately:

motherhood gets to be:

✨ Sacred and sexy

✨ Soft and strong

✨ Grief-filled and joyful

It’s not either/or.

It’s all of it.

And it’s time.

So yeah, this is part of how I’m leaving my mark. Not just as a dancer or a healer, but as a storyteller, a media voice, content creator, community amplifier and most importantly as a mama. If you're hosting an event that deserves to be seen, felt, and honored, I'm your girl.
